最近の出来事・経験の問題とは
TSSTでは、１０問の設問に各４５秒で回答をします。１０問のうち、最低１問は「最近の出来事・経験」の問題が出題されます。
「最近の出来事・経験の問題」の設問例
・昨日のできごとについて教えてください。
・最近、誰かと食事に行ったときの話してください。
・最近いった旅行について説明してください。
実際に解いてみよう
最近の出来事などのスピーチは、結論、理由などの述べる論理的な回答ができないものの、ある程度で「型」持って臨むべきです。
例えば、以下のような「型」をあらかじめ用意しておくとスムーズに会話を作ることができます。
① 結論を述べる（ex.私は〇〇をしました。）
② 補足するエピソードを挙げる（ex.〇〇に行って〇〇と出会いました。）
③ (時間があれば)②を掘り下げる
④ 最後に結論を述べる
論理的な回答を求められる設問とは異なり、理由を論理的に述べることはできません。その分、具体的なエピソードや事実など述べることで内容を膨らませると良いでしょう。
では、実際に回答してみます。私なら以下のような回答をします。今回は、「暇なときに自分の家でやりたいことは何ですか。」という質問に回答したいと思います。
①I’m an outdoorsy type of person, so I usually go out on my days off. However, I found my hobbies which I can do in my house while I couldn’t get out of my house because of spread of Corona Virus.
②If I have some time to stay home, I want to watch movies or dramas. I have several movies and dramas which I’ve wanted to watch. There are a lot of Korean dramas which I’ve wanted to watch. Korean dramas are really fun, because these dramas stay unpredictable all the way through. You don’t know how it’s going to end. I can’t stop watching to the next episode.
③I also want to clean my room, if I have a large amount of time. I clean my room at least once in a week but I can’t clean everywhere. For example, I don’t clean drains or filters of air conditioners and ventilating fans. Of course, I take hair out of the drains, but there are still things need to do. I want to get them through within this year.
実際にこの文章を考えながら４５秒ですべて話すのはかなり難易度が高いと思います。しかし、暗記していれば、４５秒くらいで回答が可能だと思います。
この例題で使える単語・表現
「アウトドア派」 ： an outdoorsy type (of person)
「インドア派」 ： an indoor type (of person)
「休みの日」 ： on one’s days off
「先が読めない」 ： stay unpredictable all the way through
「どのように終わるか分からない」： You don’t know how it’s going to end.
「換気扇」 ： ventilating fan
