最近の出来事・経験の問題とは
TSSTでは、１０問の設問に各４５秒で回答をします。１０問のうち、最低１問は「最近の出来事・経験」の問題が出題されます。
「最近の出来事・経験の問題」の設問例
・昨日のできごとについて教えてください。
・最近、誰かと食事に行ったときの話してください。
・最近いった旅行について説明してください。
実際に解いてみよう
最近の出来事などのスピーチは、結論、理由などの述べる論理的な回答ができないものの、ある程度で「型」持って臨むべきです。
例えば、以下のような「型」をあらかじめ用意しておくとスムーズに会話を作ることができます。
① 結論を述べる（ex.私は〇〇をしました。）
② 補足するエピソードを挙げる（ex.〇〇に行って〇〇と出会いました。）
③ (時間があれば)②を掘り下げる
④ 最後に結論を述べる
論理的な回答を求められる設問とは異なり、理由を論理的に述べることはできません。その分、具体的なエピソードや事実など述べることで内容を膨らませると良いでしょう。
では、実際に回答してみます。私なら以下のような回答をします。今回は、「前回、運動しなければならないと思ったとき、なぜそう思ったのか教えてください。」という質問に回答したいと思います。
①Last time I thought I had to do exercise was the day one month before my medical checkup. We are required to undergo a medical checkup every year.
②I have not actually taken care my health so much all year long. And I’m not the person to work out often. However, before the medical checkup, the idea that I have to exercise comes to my mind every year. Extensive exercises were too heavy for me, so I started from walking. I walked around my neighborhood for about an hour every day.
③I walked for about an hour per day in a row for two weeks. And I moved forward to the next step. I started jogging for half an hour. It was really tough for the first couple of days. It was so exhausting that I had to sleep one or two more hours than usual. However, I got used to it on the third day. I didn’t feel tired since then.
④I mede my mind not to end this good habit after my medical checkup, but I couldn’t achieve this. I’ve never worked out after the day I took medical checkup. I think I have to do the same thing next year.
実際にこの文章を考えながら４５秒ですべて話すのはかなり難易度が高いと思います。しかし、暗記していれば、４５秒くらいで回答が可能だと思います。
この例題で使える単語・表現
「運動する」 ： do exercise, exercise, work out, do physical activity
「健康診断を受ける」 ： undergo medical checkup
「人間ドック」 ： comprehensive medical examination
「年中」 ： all year long, all year round, throughout the year,
whole year
