このページでは、TSSTのスピーキングテストの過去を解いてみます。参考にしていただければと思います。
好きなものを問う問題（自己紹介系の問題編）とは
TSSTでは、１０問の設問に各４５秒で回答をします。１０問のうち、最低１問は「好きなものを問う」問題が出題されます。
「好きなものを問う問題」の設問例
・あなたの好きな国はどこですか。その理由を教えてください。
・好きなスポーツ選手の名前を一人挙げてください。また好きな理由を教えてください。
・好きな雑誌、本は何ですか。それはどんなものですか。
実際に解いてみよう
自己紹介などのスピーチは、結論、理由などの述べる論理的な回答ができないものの、ある程度で「型」持って臨むべきです。
例えば、以下のような「型」をあらかじめ用意しておくとスムーズに会話を作ることができます。
① 結論を述べる（ex.私は〇〇が好きです。）
② その理由を述べる（ex.過去に〇〇に行き、とても楽しい時を過ごした。）
③ 補足するエピソードやエビデンスを挙げる（ex.〇〇に行って〇〇と出会いました。）
④ (時間があれば)２と３を繰り返す
⑤ 最後に結論を述べる
論理的な回答を求められる設問とは異なり、理由を論理的に述べることはできません。その分、具体的なエピソードや事実など述べることで内容を膨らませると良いでしょう。
では、実際に回答してみます。私なら以下のような回答をします。今回は、「自由時間があったら何がしたいですか？」という質問に回答したいと思います。
①I’m very busy right now. I work for a real estate company. I work every weekday from early in the morning till late in evening. If I have free time, there are a lot of things I want to do.
②First of all, if I get several weeks of free time, I would go abroad and study English. I want to study at a university in the US or Canada. I’ve studied English for more than ten years because I want to be able to speak English. However, I did’t have enough time to master English. If I have a large amount of time, I think I can study abroad and become able to speak English.
③I want to make friends there. If I can make friends, I think I can improve my English more efficiently. Many studies said that the most efficient way to learn foreign languages is making friends. If I get along with foreign friends, I think I can also broaden my perspectives. I want spend my free time for getting out of this small world. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to have enough free time.
実際にこの文章を考えながら４５秒ですべて話すのはかなり難易度が高いと思います。しかし、暗記していれば、４５秒くらいで回答が可能だと思います。
