好きなものを問う問題（自己紹介系の問題）とは

TSSTでは、１０問の設問に各４５秒で回答をします。１０問のうち、最低１問は「好きなものを問う」問題が出題されます。

「好きなものを問う問題」の設問例

・あなたの好きな国はどこですか。その理由を教えてください。
・好きなスポーツ選手の名前を一人挙げてください。また好きな理由を教えてください。
・好きな雑誌、本は何ですか。それはどんなものですか。

実際に解いてみよう

自己紹介などのスピーチは、結論、理由などの述べる論理的な回答ができないものの、ある程度で「型」持って臨むべきです。

例えば、以下のような「型」をあらかじめ用意しておくとスムーズに会話を作ることができます。

① 結論を述べる（ex.私は〇〇が好きです。）
② その理由を述べる（ex.過去に〇〇に行き、とても楽しい時を過ごした。）
③ 補足するエピソードやエビデンスを挙げる（ex.〇〇に行って〇〇と出会いました。）
④ (時間があれば)２と３を繰り返す
⑤ 最後に結論を述べる

論理的な回答を求められる設問とは異なり、理由を論理的に述べることはできません。その分、具体的なエピソードや事実など述べることで内容を膨らませると良いでしょう。

では、実際に回答してみます。私なら以下のような回答をします。今回は、「あなたはグルメだと思いますか。その理由も教えてください。」という質問に回答したいと思います。

①There are many people who are called a gourmet. These kinds of people wants to go and have dinner at the Michelin star restaurants. Ken, who is one of my friends is that kind of person. He book high-end restaurants and sometimes wait for more than a year. I don’t understand the idea of these kind of people and I can’t even put up with just waiting in line for more than half an hour.

②I think that there are a lot of good restaurants in Japan besides the Michelin star restaurants and I can satisfy enough by having dinner there. For example, there are a lot of good ramen restaurants which can’t get the Michelin star but as testy as the Michelin star restaurants because I think ramen is usually not expensive to get the Michelin star.

③I work from early in the morning till late at night during almost all the week days, so I don’t have enough time to go and have dinner at a fancy restaurant. I don’t even have time to be picky about food. I always choose by how fast I can finish eating. I even grub some sandwich or rice balls on at my desk while reading some materials when I don’t have time to eat out.

④For these reasons, I don’t think I’m a kind of person called a gourmet. However, I choose where I eat when I go travel abroad.
