好きなものを問う問題（自己紹介系の問題）とは
TSSTでは、１０問の設問に各４５秒で回答をします。１０問のうち、最低１問は「好きなものを問う」問題が出題されます。
「好きなものを問う問題」の設問例
・あなたの好きな国はどこですか。その理由を教えてください。
・好きなスポーツ選手の名前を一人挙げてください。また好きな理由を教えてください。
・好きな雑誌、本は何ですか。それはどんなものですか。
実際に解いてみよう
自己紹介などのスピーチは、結論、理由などの述べる論理的な回答ができないものの、ある程度で「型」持って臨むべきです。
例えば、以下のような「型」をあらかじめ用意しておくとスムーズに会話を作ることができます。
① 結論を述べる（ex.私は〇〇が好きです。）
② その理由を述べる（ex.過去に〇〇に行き、とても楽しい時を過ごした。）
③ 補足するエピソードやエビデンスを挙げる（ex.〇〇に行って〇〇と出会いました。）
④ (時間があれば)２と３を繰り返す
⑤ 最後に結論を述べる
論理的な回答を求められる設問とは異なり、理由を論理的に述べることはできません。その分、具体的なエピソードや事実など述べることで内容を膨らませると良いでしょう。
では、実際に回答してみます。私なら以下のような回答をします。今回は、「ATMを使うときはどこのATMを使いますかそれはなぜですか。」という質問に回答したいと思います。
①There are a lot of ATMs at many places other than banks these days. For example, there are ATMs at stations, department stores and even convenient stores. Therefore, it is convenient compared to the past. However, I always make it a rule to go to a bank and deposit or withdraw money from ATM there. Some people may say that it is waste of time to find and go to a bank, but I think withdraw money from bank ATM is the best way. I’m going to explain why I think this way.
②First of all, if I withdraw money from a bank ATM between 9 AM to 6 PM on week days, I don’t have to pay withdrawal fee. The most ATMs at other places charge service charge. I want to save money by taking out money from bank ATMs which are free on week days.
③Secondly, there are a lot of blanches of bank in the city and it’s not difficult to find them. Some people who live in countryside might have difficulty finding branches of bank and it might be better to take out money from ATMs other than bank ATMs even if they pay transactional fee. However, I don’t feel such difficulties, so I only use bank ATMs.
④For these reasons, I always withdraw money form bank ATMs.
