このページでは、TSSTのスピーキングテストの過去を解いてみます。参考にしていただければと思います。
好きなものを問う問題（自己紹介系の問題）とは
TSSTでは、１０問の設問に各４５秒で回答をします。１０問のうち、最低１問は「好きなものを問う」問題が出題されます。
「好きなものを問う問題」の設問例
・あなたの好きな国はどこですか。その理由を教えてください。
・好きなスポーツ選手の名前を一人挙げてください。また好きな理由を教えてください。
・好きな雑誌、本は何ですか。それはどんなものですか。
実際に解いてみよう
自己紹介などのスピーチは、結論、理由などの述べる論理的な回答ができないものの、ある程度で「型」持って臨むべきです。
例えば、以下のような「型」をあらかじめ用意しておくとスムーズに会話を作ることができます。
① 結論を述べる（ex.私は〇〇が好きです。）
② その理由を述べる（ex.過去に〇〇に行き、とても楽しい時を過ごした。）
③ 補足するエピソードやエビデンスを挙げる（ex.〇〇に行って〇〇と出会いました。）
④ (時間があれば)２と３を繰り返す
⑤ 最後に結論を述べる
論理的な回答を求められる設問とは異なり、理由を論理的に述べることはできません。その分、具体的なエピソードや事実など述べることで内容を膨らませると良いでしょう。
では、実際に回答してみます。私なら以下のような回答をします。今回は、「もし本屋でほしい本が見つからない場合、あなたはどうしますか。」という質問に回答したいと思います。
①It was a big problem in the past that a book we wanted to buy was sold out at a book store, because it took time to get the book. I remember I took more than a week from ordering a book to getting it. However, it is not a big problem not to find a book which we want at a book store.
②I can buy a book from Amazon. Amazon send goods soon after we order, and thanks for delivery systems in Japan, it takes only a day to get them. If I can find a book at a book store, I can access to Amazon with my smart phone and order immediately. And they delivery it on the next day. How convenient it is.
③If I can’t wait for a day and want to read a book immediately, I can buy an e-book version. I can download it only for minutes and start read soon after download has finished.
④If I have to wait for some time, I order a book at a book store. Actually, I like the process of choosing books at a book store. I can touch the real things and also read some pages. Sometimes, I can’t decide which books to buy, but I think it is one of the best part of choosing books. Therefore, I feel something is missing when I choose books on Amazon.
